Spanish Sardines Pasta with Broccoli

Image
As I am trying to expand my talent around the kitchen, I cook as much as I can during my lean time. Just the other day, I found a bottle of Spanish Sardines and thought of serving it as meryenda to my family. I always keep spaghetti pasta around for moments like this. I searched the net for a quick recipe and landed on MommyJuvs' blog . Luckily, I have a bunch of broccoli as well.  Olive Oil, Spanish Sardines and Basil Leaves Thanks to my SIL for the Spanish Sardines. She bought it in Dipolog when they went there for the CNY. Broccoli, Tomatoes and Garlic The recipe includes lemon juice but because of my excitement of feeding my household with a new dish, I forgot to add it. It also calls for onion and I don't know why I didn't include it as well. Remember I have a poor memory? And here is the outcome! It really tastes good even if I missed the lemon juice and onion. But if you want to have a chunk of sardines to chew on, you can use two bottles for 500 ...

Red Kimono

Image
The hubby never takes risk with his palate. Play safe yan lagi when choosing what to eat. Just like most of the men out there, he prefers homemade foods. Very typical lang talaga. Until he discovers his love for sushi and maki. Paminsan minsan kasi, he has no choice but to try other cuisine lalo na when I crave for them. "SUMOSAM is the leading chain of Japanese restaurants in the country, founded and managed by 3 friends and top restaurateurs Raymund Magdaluyo, Ricky Laudico and Marvin Agustin." -  from their FB page We've been a regular in SumoSam because we love their sushi and crunchy makis. Kaya when we spotted Red Kimono in The District Mall in Aguinaldo Highway, we just have to give it a try. According to their page: "What sets us apart from our competitors is our modern and unconventional approach to Japanese cooking while remaining loyal to traditional elements of the cuisine. Ingredients are tweaked in order to create innovative dishes that taste a...

Mirinae Tea

Image
We've been passing this store for a while now. But we have only decided to give it a try last Monday. Kasi there's a big note at the store facade saying "Buy 1 Take 1". Why not, chocnut?! That's the original name of the store "Milky Way Tea", I'm not sure why they changed it into Mirinae Tea, I'll ask them next time. Upon inquiry, you'll get a free Assam Black Milk Tea in regular size when you order a large size of any Milk Tea variant. It's a good deal na di ba? On our first try, my friend ordered Dark Choco Mint Milk Tea in large so I get the free drink. I have no idea what the Dark Choco Mint Milk Tea tastes like and my friend said it is so-so. Kaya I was happy na with my free drink. I love Assam Black Milk Tea anyways.  Here are the other variants. As I type this post, I am sipping Mango Yakult Fruit Tea. Hehe. It's ok but not that good. It's sour. Malamang di ...

EK: Shakey's, my comfort food!

Image
Did I mention here before that I worked as a manager in Shakey's? Hindi pa? Oh yes, naging Engineer slash restaurant Manager (not R estaurant M anager, just Manager) akish. Funny, right? I, myself, didn't see that coming. I just gave birth to Angela when my cousin was looking for a part-time job while waiting for her chance to shine as a nurse. I went around with her. Supportive lang ang peg. Until one day, I decided to bring my resume with me kasi sayang lang din naman ang kakalakad ko. Although it was actually her who wanted to work at the pizza parlor, it was me they wanted. Lol! Na-curious daw kasi sila bakit nag-aapply ako sa kanila while I am a licensed Engineer. To make the story short, I worked as a Manager for 9 months. It was short but sweet. I really learned a lot. At dahil sa short love affair ko with Shakey's, I developed a special connection with their foods. Chos! =) I didn't come to work last Monday.  I was not feeling well.  I was feeling lazy. Sh...

EK: Cheat Day Tuesday

Image
I went to SM Megamall for an early lunch date with a college friend. Sakto lang din ang invitation nya kasi I have an appointment with DFA for my passport renewal. =) We ate at Cajun Red Rock Restaurant for a change. I had the shrimp and ribs treat. Wala kong picture, sorry. =( Hindi kasi alam ni friend that I'm into blogging, basag ang trip ko dun pag nagkataon. Hehe. Anyway, the food was ok. Nakakabusog. Malamang, kasi half slab of rib yung order ko with shrimp, grilled corn pa at rice. Hehe. It's nice talaga to go out with your friends, noh? =) After lunch I went straight to DFA office at the new building of Megamall, although 2:30 pm pa ang schedule ko and I arrived 1:30 pm, hindi naman nila ako hina...

Rewind: Picnic picnican

Image
A post long overdue. We spent the Holy Week at home lang. So last Holy Wednesday (I know, right? =) We had pork barbeque, inihaw na hito, inihaw na talong, inihaw na hotdog (not in the picture because we finished it right away) at ensaladang mangga. Again, I am not an expert here so please bear with my hula hulang ingredients. =) the pork marinade after mixing all the sauces in the above photo Look at my husband DIY ihawan. He made them all, the griller and the griller stand. Ang talino, noh? pogi, isa ngang barbeque please! =) sa aming ihawan yum yum let's eat!!

Rewind: King Bee

Image
After Angela's Moving Up Day, we planned to celebrate at King Bee Chinese Food along Daang Hari para maiba naman. My hubby prefers lutong bahay dishes and whenever we go out, he chooses Pinoy foods talaga. He seldom experiments with foods. Ok, enaf intro. When the waiter brought us the menu folder, I went directly to their dimsum. I ordered Siomai and Shark's Fin Dumpling. I wanted pa sana to get chicken feet but I heard my hubby ordered Peking Duck, Hototay Soup, Bihon Guisado, Sweet and Sour Lapu-Lapu and Yang Chow Fried Rice. OMAYGAWD! Andami! Hototay Soup The super masarap na Lapu-Lapu in Sweet and Sour sauce, Sweet and sour Lapu-lapu Kunwari pa ak...

Foods: Sweet and Spicy Chicken!

Image
Since I joined this company, I became a fan of Korean dishes. To (I'll write a separate blog about this). Naging 3rd option namin 'yung Happy 6 Days na Korean resto. Instant favorite namin 'yung sweet and spicy chicken.  Last December, we spent the holidays with my side of family. Kaya nung saberday, hindi ako nagdalawang isip na gawin sya for my family. I'll share my recipe. You'll be surprise how easy it is. Hope you'll like it, too. 'Yun nga lang, pagpasensyahan nyo na kasi layman terms ang gagamitin ko sa procedure, 'ya know, I'm not a cook. :) Ingredients: 1 kilo/whole Chicken For the breading 1 cup Flour (or more) 1 sachet Magic Sarap For the sauce 1/2 bar Butter 1 bottle Jufran Sweet C...

Saturday high

Image
I made our family dinner last Saturday extra special for Angela. We celebrated her achievements with foods and gifts. Ako ang official cook for the day. I know I mentioned here already that I don't really cook. Ok, let me correct it, I rarely cook. Seasonal yung mood ko sa pagluluto. And I was super happy kasi I woke up last Saturday with the determination that I will cook Angela's favorite spaghetti. We started the day by being present at her school for the final rehearsal of their graduation march. First time nya pong um-attend ng practice. Hehe. From school, we went straight to the mall for a little shopping and to buy ingredients to my lutu-lutuan project. Sakay kami ng jeep on our way home. :) (I was browsing my phone earlier for the Spaghetti pictures para mai-upload ko dito, MY GAAWWDDD, I for...

Places: Palawan, a must visit island

Image
One of the perks of my profession is that I get to see places for free. With my first employer, I was all over NCR, North Luzon and South Luzon. Then, I got to travel to Cebu, Bohol, Iloilo and Bacolod. Hehe. Right after Laguna, I was sent to Palawan for almost 4 months. And mind you, I got to explore Palawan from shore to shore. I went island hopping literally. I appreciated not only the tourist destinations but everything in between. I was able to experience how it was to live and breathe Palawan. Ok, too much introductions na. (from WikiPilipinas) Bird's nest soup , or  nido soup , is a Chinese delicacy that is popular in the  Philippines . The bird's nest ingredient comes...

I want pancakes..now! :)

Image
As I write this, I am craving for McDonalds Hotcakes. Yum yum yum! :) Yummy Hotcakes with Hashbrown and Coffee Do you know that McDonalds will be giving away McMuffins on March 18 as we celebrate National Breakfast Day? :) Cool, isn't it? That's for the first 1000 customers on all branches that offer Breakfast. Saan kaya ako makapunta nyan? Hehe. For more details, you can check McDonalds official page here . *This is not a sponsored post.

HOPPIIIIAAAAA!!!!

Image
This is our meryenda today. I am munching on this huge hopia while typing this post. One of our maintenance guy here in office was selling this a while ago for Php150. It tastes like Piyaya but the dough is much like of a bread. It actually looks like a pizza dough. Manipis lang sya. I have to buy one again para maiuwi ko, malamang matutuwa nito si Angela. Hehe.
